Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early chances in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
